Beauty Box Subscription Reviews (April)

Beauty Box Subscription Reviews (April)

I’m a self-confessed subscription addict. It’s no secret.

My favourite subscription has to be my beauty boxes… Every month the postie brings me a Glossybox, a Birchbox and a LookFantastic Beauty Box.

If you fancy taking out a beauty subscription, be sure to grab the discounts from the links provided!

It’s April, and Birchbox have teamed up with Cath Kidston to produce the most beautiful floral box. Glossybox have stuck with it’s signature black and pink box and LookFantastic have used bold spring colours for their Beauty Box. The three boxes are complimenting each other beautifully this month.

So, how do I rate the products I received and is there a box that stands out above the rest?

This month’s theme:

“Beauty Awakening”

What’s in the box?

  • Pür Fully Charged Mascara
Eh… It’s okay. It stays put and doesn’t transfer but I found it a tad clumpy and heavy-sitting for my liking. This will likely sit in a drawer, never to be used again.
  • Glamglow SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment
If like myself, you have sensitive skin, I recommend you stay away from this one… Unless you like that Lobster Glow. It’s a shame that I reacted to it because it’s a nice mask and the closest thing to an actual mud mask that I’ve used yet. I swear there were actual pieces of bark in there!
  • Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
This is my first time using a cleansing balm and so far so good! This is a really nice balm, it smells lovely and is great at removing my makeup.
  • Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté
A good moisturiser that I’ve enjoyed using over the last week. Smells like freesia and orange blossom – not crème fraîche, luckily.
  • Dr Botanicals Vegan Bergamont & Poppy Seed Soap
I love a good natural soap and this particular one has been a lovely discovery. Smells so lovely and the poppy seeds make for great exfoliation.
  • Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads
I received these in my Birchbox advent calendar last December and wasn’t amazed by them. The pads are small and slip out from under my fingers whilst using. They smell of chemicals too – not a fan.
  • Elle Magazine Subscription
Alicia Vikander features in this month’s Elle… Never heard of her.

BIRCHBOX (£10 + £2.95 P&P per month)

This month’s theme:

“Brighten Up Your Day”

What’s in the box?

  • ModelCo Baked Highlighter in Moonshine
Despite the packaging being small and fiddly, this is a nice little highlighter. Not too dull, not too shimmery and suits my skin shade well.
  • Beautaniq Beauty Fill + Tame Brow Gel in Blonde
The first time I used this was an absolute disaster – very easy to get in a mess with. This definitely takes some practise and a very light hand. The Blonde shade is quite close to the colour of my brows and once I’d got the hang of using it, it didn’t look half bad – not the best, but not bad. This now takes seconds to apply and will come in very handy when I’m in a rush and have little time for makeup.
  • Cath Kidston Hand Cream
This smells so beautiful, soaks into my hand within around 10 seconds and makes them feel so unbelievable soft! I think I’m in love.
  • Percy & Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray
Just what I needed after recently running out of my other hairspray. I wish they’d sent a bigger bottle as I really like this product.
  • Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow Illuminator
Really like this. I have to mix it with something a bit lighter because I’m a ghost but come summer, this should match the shade of my skin perfectly. Sits light on my skin which I love and stays on all day.

GLOSSYBOX (£10 + £3.25 P&P PER MONTH)

–> GET 20% OFF YOUR FIRST GLOSSYBOX <–

What’s in the box?

  • Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo Baked Blush in Light Beige
This is more shimmer than any kind of pigment. I’d say this was more of a highlighter than a blush.
  • Glossybox Angled Brush
A cool little brush, well made. However I don’t use angled brushes – maybe I should start.
  • Affect Cosmetics Matt Effect Transparent Loose Rice Powder
Love this. The perfect finish to my makeup.
  • Eyeko London FAT Liquid Eyeliner
I love love LOVE this eyeliner! This is my new favourite! Granted it looks like I’m drawing on my face with a big fat permanent marker but this eyeliner is pretty much foolproof! I can apply my eyeliner so quickly with this and I haven’t bodged up a wing yet!
  • Imperial Leather Unicorn Marshmallow Foamburst – Limited Edition
    FLUMPS.
FAVOURITE ITEM:

Eyeko London FAT Liquid Eyeliner

LEAST FAVOURITE ITEM:

KL + ModelCo Baked Blush

OVERALL RATING: 3.5/5

For the first time since I’ve been comparing my boxes, BIRCHBOX has come out on top!

Did you get any of these boxes this month? What did you think?
