Beauty Box Subscription Reviews (March)

I’m back again to compare the UK’s top three beauty subscription boxes.

This post would have been up last week if it weren’t for Glossybox’s late delivery. Tut tut.

The LookFantastic Beauty Box design is definitely the best looking out of the three this month. Birchbox have gone for a hippie-mandala style pattern whilst Glossybox have stuck with their signature pink and black theme.

I assume the theme this month is; MASKS! Simply because between the three boxes, I’ve ended up with FIVE!

It was Glossybox that came out on top for me last month, can they come out victorious again?

I’ll review them in the order they landed on my doormat:

What’s in the box?

  • Skimono Beauty Masks
These are foot masks, which is totally new to me. I have never used a foot mask before. Doing this during my kid’s breakfast time wasn’t my brightest idea. If you’re going to use a foot mask, you definitely need to do it when you have 30 minutes to sit down and do nothing else. These are little plastic socks filled with serum and they feel so weird! They’re designed brilliantly in all fairness. They come with a sticky tab at the top so that you can fasten them tight around your ankles. Easy to use and my feet feel fresh and soft after use.
  • Renuskin Advanced Anti-Ageing Flash Relax Mask
I really like this mask, firstly because it’s a clear gel which means that you’re not going to terrify your children/spouse/postman should they see you with it on. After use, my skin feels so beautifully soft. I will definitely use this product again (so it’s a good job I received a good sized tube of the stuff).
  • Stylondon Oval Brush
OMFG SOFTEST GODDAMN BRUSH I HAVE EVER USED! This tiny brush head is probably made up of about a billion beautifully soft bristles – or at least that’s what it feels like. BUT, I’m not sure that it’s going to be replacing my trusty Beauty Blender any time soon. The brush took twice as long to apply my foundation and concealer and honestly, I could have logged it as a cardio workout. My arm is aching after all that blending. Saying that, the coverage is flawless and may actually have done a better job than my beauty blender… Not bad for a little £5.99 brush.
  • Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow Duo
Nope. I put these on and took them off straight away. I don’t do glittery eyeshadows.
  • Omorovicza Balancing Moisturiser
This alone is worth over £50! I’ve been using this everyday for the last 2 weeks and I love it. Whilst it isn’t the most pleasant smelling (like… minty mud), it does make my skin feel really lovely and it soaks into my skin within seconds.
  • Skin Chemists London Rose Quartz Youth Defence Lip Plump
This is a nice lip gloss. It’s one of those that makes your lips tingle in order to “plump”. I can’t say I noticed a massive difference
  • Elle Magazine Subscription
Margot Robbie features in this month’s magazine. I love this woman. They also have a really interesting article on social media, particularly instagram and the effects it has on real life.

What’s in the box?

  • BLAQ Peel Off Mask
Well, this was a new experience. Do not apply this if you need to go out soon after as you’ll be left with a red face for at least half an hour. If you saw my instagram story, you’ll know.
  • Benefit BADgal BANG! Volumising Mascara
I normally wear Benefit Roller Lash which I like because it sits quite subtle compared to most mascaras. BADgal BANG! however, is anything but subtle. It sits thick and heavy and whilst I do like it’s dramatic look, I’ve found it transferring onto my skin under my eyes – which is not a good look.
  • LAQA & CO. B’Lighter Blush + Highlighter
I’m not normally a fan of this brand but I really love this little product. The light pink colour is really lovely and I’ve found myself wearing it everyday this week.
  • This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray
Works perfect on the Other Half. Not something that I can use myself as I normally have to get up to Delilah in the night.
  • Beauty Protector Protect and Volume
I didn’t like this product. It made my hair feel sticky and heavy. Not sure I’d use again.

Beauty Protector, Protect and Volume Spray.

OVERALL RATING: 2/5 Eeek, not the greatest box from Birchbox this month.

What’s in the box?

  • Mudmasky Sleep Repair Renewal Nourishing Mask
A mask that you wear at night? Not as messy as it sounds! This face mask is designed to be applied every night before bed and washed off in the morning. It applies thinly and you barely know that you’re wearing it. It feels super soft and light once applied and my skin feels lovely by morning.
  • Oryza Beauty Warm Nude Lipstick
I have found my new daily lippy. I LOVE this nude colour. (I’m all about the nude). It’s not the best at staying put but right now, with the way it looks, I don’t mind reapplying.
  • Figs & Rouge Soft Focus Pore Perfect HD+
This is a really nice product and with the size of the tube I’ve been given, it’s going to last me forever! This matte serum soaks in quicker than any other I’ve tried before and doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or slimy at all! In fact, it feels like soft velvet. I love this product!
  • Meg Cosmetics Good Night PM Mask
I’m really not a fan of sheet (shit) masks. If it wasn’t already bad enough that I looked like Jason Voorhees, I found I had to keep repositioning it on my face and it just made me feel claustrophobic. Oh, and scarred my other half for life. My face felt sticky and I woke up spotty.
  • Universal Beauty Secret Flush Soothing Cream Blusher and Lip Stain Duo
This is far too shimmery to use as a lip stain. It is much better suited as a cream blusher. The colour is nice on my cheeks and blends well. Although, I’m not sure it’s one that I’ll pick up often.

I think the Birch Box box looks and sounds the best to me! I like the sound of the pillow spray!

I’m so glad I found this post, I ordered my very first Birch Box last night but it is always good to have a comparison. I may try Glossy Box as I have heard really good things about it. I’ve not heard of the Look Fantastic one before so maybe worth a peek.

Lookfantastic is my personal favourite because it features a lot more skin care. Glossybox and Birchbox are great for discovering new makeup x
