Beauty Box Subscription Reviews (December)

Introducing my new monthly blog feature; Battle of the Beauty Boxes!

I am absolutely loving getting beauty products sent to my door every month and I’m always on the lookout for a new subscription – I’m a bit of a subscription addict!

Last month I posted what I thought of the Birchbox and Glossybox and I also took out a new subscription for the LookFantastic Beauty Box.

This month, I’ve put all three boxes into one post to battle it out!

The expectations are always high from Beauty Subscription Boxes around Christmas – so how did they do?

I’ll kick this off in alphabetical order

BIRCHBOX (£10 + £2.95 P&P per month)

“Life’s Little Treasures”

  1. Rituals The Rituals of Ayurveda Foaming Shower Gel (full-size)
Woah, this is reeeallly foamy! It smells lovely and leaves my skin feeling silky. I like this product a lot.
  2. Cargo Cosmetics Blush in Sunset Beach
This isn’t actually listed in my booklet so I’m guessing they have them in abundance and are just trying to get rid of them. I also received this item in my Advent Calendar (on the same day I received my box) and I know that they were giving them away to new subscribers the other month. Either way, I now have two that will probably never get used – way too shimmery for my liking.
  3. Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose (full-size)
An alright lip balm, feels a little lipstick-y but I love the subtle colour and it does leave my lips feeling nice and soft even hours after use.
  4. Spectrum Collections B04 Angled Blender Brush (full-size)
I’ve been super excited about this one arriving since they shared on Facebook that they were including one in every box. Who doesn’t love a Spectrum brush?
  5. Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser
Thick and a little sticky upon application but once soaked in leaves my skin feeling fresh. Smells earthy; which I really like.
  6. Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo
A nice shampoo. Hair feels lovely and clean after use.
Favourite item:

The Spectrum Blender Brush without a doubt. I love these brushes

Least favourite item:

The Cargo Blush as I feel like they’ve just chucked it in there. I now have two and I’m probably not going to use either.

Overall rating 3.5/5

GLOSSYBOX (£10 + £3.25 P&P per month)

–> Get 20% off your first GLOSSYBOX <–

“Mince Pies, Starry Skies”

  1. Model Co 3D Lash Primer (full-size)
Lash primer is something that is new to me. I applied it to just one eye so that I could compare; it left a whiteish coating to my lashes – lengthening and thickening them. It smells like glue which is a bit gross. I used my usual Benefit Roller Lash over the top and it was quite difficult to apply over the primer and didn’t look as good as the non-primered eye (obviously, this mascara is friggin awesome). The primer actually made my eyelid uncomfortable and I ended up taking it straight off.
  2. Naobay Equilibria Gel to Milk Cleanser
Weirdest cleanser I have ever used! It felt like I was putting honey on my face. Once you begin washing off with water, it feels much nicer. Smells lovely and skin feels really wonderful after use.
  3. Steve Laurant Precision Tip Eyeliner (full-size)
Really like this eyeliner, actually one of the best eyeliners I’ve ever used – I can already see myself using it daily. Nailing the flicks first time – always a good start!
  4. Laqa & Co Cloud Lips (full-size)
A nice lippy, not a colour I would choose for myself but I have to admit that I quite like it as it sits quite matte.
  5. Soaper Duper Rich and Creamy Shea Butter Body Wash
This smelt disgusting – will use only as an emergency wash if all my others have run out.
  6. There was also a little pack of 3 Raffaello chocolates but they didn’t stick around long enough to be photographed.
Favourite item:

The chocolates obviously!

Least favourite item:

Soaper Duper Stinky Winky

Overall rating: 3.5/5 – if it weren’t for the chocolates, this would have been a 3/5.

LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX (£15 per month – Free P&P)

“Beauty In Wonderland”

  1. MDMflow Matte Lipstick in Bossy
Love this colour. Cute little lippy. Applies nicely.
  2. Polaar Genuine Lapland Hand Cream
Smelt a little wiffy but soaks into skin quickly and leaves hand feeling nice.
  3. Figs and Rouge Hydra Activ Smart Nutrient Day Cream
An all-round really lovely day cream
  4. Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser
This smells delicious! I had to resist the urge to eat it! Really fab little product – love a good scrub.
  5. Gatineau Anti-aging Serums
Applies to skin lovely, nice consistency. Smells really nice and soaks into skin within 30 seconds. I love a good anti-aging product.
  6. Bubble T Limited Edition Beauty In Wonderland Bath Fizzer
Really impressed with this bath bomb. Smelt incredible and turned the bath water the most amazing blue colour. I’ve kept half back for another bath!
Favourite item:

The bath bomb!

Least favourite item:

Hmm… A hard one – possibly the hand cream as it just smelt a little weird.

Overall rating: 4/5 – I would have liked another makeup product, it all felt a bit too creamy this month but fab products none the less.

The LookFantastic Beauty Box won the battle for me with Birchbox and Glossybox sharing second place.

Did you get any of these boxes this month? What did you think?

I agree I loved my look fantastic box this month the best too! Although I do love the smell of the soaper duper body wash, I’m a sucker for Shea haha!

I used to get glossybox, I had a Naobay condintioner that i loved but couldn’t find anywhere to buy! Really annoyed me, if I really like something I want to be able to buy more. I stopped after that lol.
